FIRE SPRINKLER TESTS AND INSPECTIONS

With offices in the Tampa Bay area and Fort Myers FL, serving all of Central and Southwest Florida.

According to NFPA 25, fire sprinkler systems must be inspected and tested regularly to confirm proper functioning and compliance with national and local safety codes.

How often should fire sprinklers be inspected?

Sprinkler systems are made up of many parts, which should be inspected at various intervals to ensure they are in working order. According to NFPA 25, fire sprinklers should be inspected as follows:

Weekly or monthly – Gauges in dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinklers need to be inspected as much as once a week. Sprinkler pipes for wet systems should be inspected as often as once a month.

Quarterly – Devices such as control valves, signal devices, valve alarm devices, water flow alarm devices, FDCs, and hydraulic nameplates should be tested once every three months.

Annually – Once a year, inspect pipework and fittings, seismic bracing, information signage, and spare sprinklers.

Every five years – The NFPA guidelines require that you inspect all internal pipework of your sprinkler system with an obstruction investigation.
